Standard piano tuning starts at $150 and includes an inspection of the piano before tuning. If the piano is significantly below pitch, has not been tuned in several years, or needs additional correction work, I’ll explain that before doing any extra work. For longer route appointments, I may have a $200 minimum, which includes my standard tuning plus a basic cleaning service, so the customer receives added value

I start by asking what the customer wants from the piano. Some customers want a concert-level result, but many simply want an older family piano to sound better and be enjoyable to play again. At the appointment, I inspect the piano, check the general condition, look for obvious concerns, and determine whether it needs a standard tuning, pitch correction, cleaning, or additional service. I explain what I find in plain language so there are no surprises.

I’m classically trained in piano and began working with piano tuning and repair in 2017. My experience includes tuning, pitch correction, cleaning, basic repairs, regulation work, and restoration work on uprights, spinets, grands, and antique pianos

My background as a musician and my interest in old instruments led me into piano technology. What started with learning to care for my own piano grew into tuning, repairing, and restoring pianos for other people. One of my favorite projects was rebuilding an 1898 Estey upright piano. That kind of work gave me a deep appreciation for older instruments and the families who still want to use them

I have worked with a wide range of customers, from first-time piano owners and families to teachers, churches, hobbyists, and recording musicians.

Look for a technician who is willing to inspect the piano, explain its condition clearly, and recommend what actually makes sense for the instrument. For older, inherited, or free pianos, the right answer is not always expensive restoration. Sometimes the best goal is simply making the piano playable and enjoyable again.

Customers should consider: When was the piano last tuned? Is the piano being played regularly? Are there sticking keys, buzzing sounds, or other concerns? Is the goal routine maintenance, improved performance, or restoration? For antique or inherited pianos, it is helpful to determine both sentimental and practical value when deciding on repair or restoration work.
